2014 Last Lecture
Dr Ioannis Ziogas, Lecturer in Classics from the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, won the vote in 2014.
As described by his students, Ioannis is a man who can bring life to classics that nobody can. Though ancient roman poetry sounds boring, nothing could be further from the truth when learning under Ioannis. Not afraid of things usually brushed aside by other scholars, he gives students opportunities to consider aspects of Ancient Rome that are often shocking, fascinating, or just plain hilarious. He has a particular knack of relating things to 21st century culture that adds an extra layer to his talent.
