Associate Professor Penny Kyburz

Associate Director (Engagement & Impact), ANU School of Computing

I am an interdisciplinary researcher and educator in the field of human-computer interaction. My diverse career path has spanned industry, government, and academia. I bring my unique background to contribute to industry-engaged education and research at ANU. As the Associate Director for Engagement & Impact in the School of Computing, I lead our engagement strategy, and serve on the CECC Engagement, Research and Impact committee. I am a member of the ACT/NSW committee for the Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN), a national organisation focused on the advancement of work-integrated learning. I also represent ANU on the NSW Digital Skills & Workforce Compact, developing strategies to attract and retain students in digital education and careers. I served on ANU鈥檚 working groups for the ANU Employability Framework and for HDR Industry Engagement and Career Development.

I am an avid supporter of high-quality, inclusive education for our students, and manageable workloads for our staff. As a member of the Academic Board, I will champion diversity and inclusion in education, with a focus on high-quality, sustainable education and teaching practices. I will also advocate for the importance of engagement in research and education, and for positive impacts of our work on society.
